LFPA Alta Mesa Curriculum 

Learning Foundation & Performing Arts School is devoted to providing students with a rigorous academic and performing arts environment that embraces the whole student. In this pursuit, our curriculum incorporates Arizona Department of Education Standards throughout all grade levels and subjects.

Kindergarten through Sixth Grade classes have implemented the use of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt “Journeys” program for language arts and “Go Math” program for mathematics.  Macmillan Science and Macmillan/McGraw Hill Social Studies round out the core curriculum.  All programs incorporate the Arizona Career and College Ready Standards (ACCRS) and provide seamless academic transitions from grade to grade.

Seventh and eighth grade classes utilize textbooks by Holt/Rinehart/Winston for language arts and mathematics books by Holt/McDougal supplemented with Laurus Math.

7th – 8th grade curriculum:

  • Language Arts: Holt/Rinehart/Winston textbooks
  • Math: Holt/McDougal textbooks
  • History: Prentice Hall textbooks

All teachers utilize supplementary resources. including novels, online resources, technology, and various other sources.  Teachers and students, Kindergarten through 8th grade, incorporate technology through the use of our computer lab and White Boards in every classroom used by teachers to project visuals and connect new concepts or skills to prior learning.  Students develop technological skills that will allow them to compete in a technologically advanced society.

KG – 6th grade curriculum:

Electives:

  • K – 3rd Grades:  Musical Theater, Dance, Spanish, Art, PE

  • 4th – 6th Grades:  Musical Theater, Dance, Spanish, Keyboards, PE, Ceramics, Life Skills

  • 7th – 8th Grades:  Students in grades 7-8 may choose from a wide variety of electives in the areas of Performing Arts, Art, Academics, Fitness/Athletics.
